The Métis Financial Corporation of BC (MFCBC) was established as a result of an agreement between Métis Nation British Columbia and the department of Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC). MFCBC will assist Métis entrepreneurs with financing to start a new business, expand an existing business or acquire an established business.
Our goal is to be the Métis entrepreneur’s financer of choice in BC and to help build Métis owned businesses in the province.
MFCBC is an independent corporation whose only shareholder being MNBC.
Our mandate and structure permits us to provide financing to Métis entrepreneurs that commercial lenders such as banks and credit unions may not be able to provide.
The MFCBC has the ability to provide loans up to $150,000 to approved clients.
At this time, the MFCBC does not have the capacity or mandate to offer grants.
All loans require a business plan in order to be approved.

Yes, MFCBC does require personal guarantees. Funding is supported by an accepted letter of offer signed by all owners of the business so they are personally obligated.
A minimum of 10% equity is required; equity in the form of contributed assets (directly related to the business) may occasionally be considered.
No. MFCBC is focused on supporting Métis businesses in the for-profit sector.
The MFCBC is open to Métis citizens and those who self-identify as Métis persons in the Province of British Columbia. For a business to be eligible for funding through the MFCBC, it must be a minimum of 51% owned by a Métis person.
MFCBC will determine a client’s Métis heritage through our citizenship registry or through a self-declaration process.
